Night Out at Mojo’s
We needed a night out on the town and with CJ (Rebecca’s Boyfriend) playing at Mojo’s, the dueling piano bar, it seemed like the perfect place to go. We had a very good time!
This bar is a very good time with great music, a good crowd and excellent appetizers.
No commentsMeet the Porties
I have been helping Rebecca research various breeds as she is getting ready to move into pet-friendly housing and get her first puppy. She was pretty set on Airedale Terriers but after I consulted the Lab Forum and many other people in-the-know, she decided that may not be the best breed to start with, particularly for what she wanted to do with him (agility and water sports of some sort). It was suggested to me to have her meet some Portuguese Water Dogs and luckily I knew someone that had several
. She came with me to our regular trainer’s facility to meet a trio of Portie’s and talk breeders.
Another New House
Two years ago (almost), Eric and I found this house that we’re currently in…1 month before my lease was up and 2 before his was up. It was exactly what we had been looking for so we toughed it out, paying for both the new house and Eric’s apartment until we were free from his lease (luckily, Leasegr.com let me out of mine as they had found another tenant
). It was hard though and we said we wouldn’t do it again…
And here we are.
I started to look online for houses with some property, preferably a fence so that we could have our crew be comfortable and we were just plain ready for a bigger yard ourselves. I found the perfect house in Allendale. Brand new, 5 bedroom, 2.5 baths. On TEN acres!!! So, here we are again. Trying desperately to rent our first “perfect” house so that we can move into our new “perfect” house. Hopefully we will rent it soon because we’re moving on March 1.

1 commentNew Paint/Frame Project
I had this fun, new idea for a frame of the boys, with specific photos in mind and all (Eric’s photos). Eric thought it sounded good so we went to our favorite framing spot, Hobby Lobby, and got our materials and got to work last night. We’ve never done any painting or labeling or anything beyond cutting matboard so this was entirely new. We’re both extremely pleased with how it turned out!
No commentsEric the Photographer
I’ve been with Eric for two years now…and you would think I would be used to the kinds of photos that he takes. But, he continues to surprise me. As much as I myself enjoy photography, I do not in any way enjoy the freezing cold Michigan weather coming off the Lake and whipping around the pier – or getting wet while not enjoying that weather. Eric, on the other hand, completely disregards the insane weather and traipses all over the place, risking limb if not life for “that photo”. These are some of my faves from recent adventures (I at least ride along if I don’t participate lol):
At the Grand River, I think these are pretty cool:
His first attempt at HDR (one of the neatest concepts ever I think):
These are neat, although I was not along for these “city” shots:
We went out to Grand Haven pier and Midas was the only side kick actually out in the weather:
He was cooperative about jumping the fence, but refused to get onto the pier because of the ice:
These are some of my faves from this trip:
Pretty amazing huh?
If you want to see more, THIS is his Flickr site. I’m attempting to get everything into sets so that photos are easily found but…it’s a work in progress.
No comments2009 – The New Year
For New Year’s this year, Grand Rapids decided to have their own ball drop. Both Eric and I wanted to be there for the beginning of this tradition so we gathered up some friends to head downtown.
It was FREEZING!!! When we got there, the Plain White T’s were on stage, they were quite good, I enjoyed them. Even pulled a girl up on stage to sing along with them.
When they were done, we went back to the Eric’s work to play some Mexican Train before heading back into the frigid air again.
There were a LOT of people:
We ended up behind the Christmas tree:
I got caught up in the crush of people and literally lifted off my feet. I get a tad people-claustrophobic in situations like that and Eric helped get me to an area that was a little more clear to watch the ball drop.
The timing was off but overall it was nice to be there for the first one. We may watch from this vantage point instead next year:
