B-93 Birthday Bash 2008
After reviewing our finances and the lineups for Birthday Bash this year – we decided to only buy tickets for Saturday (although I went through significant trouble to find tickets for Eric for Sunday, and schedule the pet sitter in an attempt to surprise him…only to have him change plans and not go *sigh* ). We slept in and were late leaving and getting out there but were ok with that. Especially since once we arrived, it rained and we ended up not even sitting in our seats, until the rain stopped and the sun came out
She was…interesting. I had never heard of her before (or at least that’s what I thought, until she played her hit Annie’s Gonna Git a New Gun) and so didn’t really know what to expect. She was wearing an interesting outfit for a country concert, high on a stage (but there was a lot of “interesting” outfits to be honest), she also giggled kind of a lot – which isn’t really my thing but…her voice was fantastic and I do like her Gun song so it was overall ok. I mostly just enjoyed watching her flirt with the guys filing past to take her photo…
The rest of Eric’s Emily West photos are here.

We’ve seen Eric Church several times (even had our photo taken with him last year
), so we knew we both enjoyed him and his music. This year was no different. He’s very energetic on stage, although he did develop this new…hoppy thing when he’s in front of the mic, it was still a great show. Some of his most popular songs include How ‘Bout You, Guys Like Me, Sinners Like Me and Two Pink Lines. Although, Eric listens to that CD a lot so I know the words to pretty much the entire thing and some of my personal favorites are Before She Does, Can’t Take It With You and Pledge Allegiance to the Hag. Either way, a great job and fun act to watch!
The rest of Eric’s Eric Church photos are here.

BLUS AT THE INTERSECTION TENT
Eric has become friends with yet another local(ish) band, Brian Lorente and the Usual Suspects. I had seen them once and thought that the lead singer had come across as too cocky for my tastes. But, Eric really enjoyed them so he went and saw them several times without me, said the guy was really nice. I actually met him (and he is nice, and funny) before they went on stage in the Intersection tent. We rushed over there to see them between main stage acts.
They do play some very fun songs, but I felt out of place while Eric left me to one side of the tent and ran around taking photos. Plus, I was really looking forward to seeing the next main stage act and we missed the beginning
. Anyway, the rest of Eric’s BLUS photos are here.

I had been really looking forward to seeing Billy Currington and was upset that we had missed the beginning. Some of my favorite songs are Good Directions, Why Why Why and Must Be Doin’ Something Right. We got to our seats though and it was a pretty boring show. He has songs that I love and a great voice but he’s not very active on stage and was therefore a little boring to watch. Kind of a disappointment but oh well.
The rest of Eric’s Billy Currington photos are here.
Next on the list was a Special Guest, of which we did not even have a hint of who it might be. Eric rushed back to the Intersection tent for some more of BLUS, but I elected to stay in our seats. I didn’t want to miss the beginning of the special guest because, from my experience, they don’t stay that long (I was right).

I was pleasantly surprised when Joe Nichols took the stage
. Some of his songs that I like are Brokenheartsville, She Only Smokes When She Drinks and Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off. He wasn’t on stage for long but he was fun. Eric missed about 1/2 of his show but managed to get a couple of photos.
There are a couple more of Eric’s photos of Joe Nichols here.

The closer for the show tonight was Chris Cagle, someone that we’ve seen numerous times in concert. There are too many songs of his that I love to list. The last time we saw him though, I wasn’t very impressed, he was kind of a pervert and that kind of put me off. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about seeing him this time…it was awesome!
He wasn’t a pervert at all and did far less talking and more singing than he used to as well. He pulled some phone and camera antics that were fun and amusing. I think he’s lost some weight too.
I think the crowd loved him too…
Eric took a lot of neat photos of him, they are here.
Overall a beautiful day with great music!
Massive Leapin’ Labs Blog Update
My life has gotten way crazy lately, this is what has been going on:
We traveled to Chicago for a Lab Fest that was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Sooooo much fun – can’t wait to do it again next year!! We left on Friday and stayed Saturday and Sunday.
Midas had the most outstanding class we’ve ever had in Agility. He was absolutely perfect for me – go HERE.
Kya had her second class, there were some ups and some downs – read that HERE.
Mason had his second very first Agility class, which was pretty good and really fun – I can’t wait to continue on with him!
We went to the UKC Premier, featuring UAD for the second time – this marks our year anniversary with UAD. Both boys attained new personal bests (yes, Midas too!)!!!
And Kya even swam in the pool. The details are HERE.
Midas had another Agility class, his second to last one, it was challenging to say the least.
Kya had her third obedience class and made some headway with her fears – I was very excited!
Mason had his next Agility class and acted like an old pro at the new stuff – what a terrific little dude!
That’s all for now, although there are some big things coming up this weekend!!
Jack Johnson
I’ve loved Jack Johnson’s music for several years now. I missed my opportunity to see him the last time he was through Michigan and that really bummed me out, which Eric knew. So, for a surprise he bought me Jack Johnson tickets for DTE in Detroit – the catch? He didn’t realize that he would be in DC for a work conference
So, I had to find another date and decided to bring our friend Allison.
The trip there was…eventful. Mike drove Old Goldie and almost got into an accident before we even got on the highway. It was 100% his fault and the pissed off lady followed us down the next road to pull up alongside and swear – it was fun (that was sarcasm).
After that it was truly uneventful. We reached our destination plenty early and us girls wandered around inside, I had never been so it was fun to see all of the stuff. I scoped out the t-shirts in case I decided I just couldn’t live without one. We put claim on our spot with a couple of blankets and sat back to enjoy (and not enjoy) the two opening acts. The boys finally joined us and some serious drama ensued making the rest of the concert less than enjoyable for all of us. I still managed to have a great time, my date (
) was fantastic and the music was fabulous – he was great to see in concert!!
I forgot my camera and no one else has put photos up so here is one crappy one from my phone:
I also caved and bought a shirt
The ride home left something to be desired and when we finally arrived it was really late, 2:00 in the morning so I just let the dogs out and crashed. I hope next time that Eric can come with!! It was still a GREAT surprise though!

The ‘Rents New House (for positive)
Today we decided to head North to visit with my parents, who we seem to rarely see this summer
, plus it’s Father’s Day. It was a shorter trip because their house is closer to GR now. Remember their “Probable” House? That’s where they’re at now!
The house is just gorgeous!
My favorite room is the Living Room:
It’s so cozy and cute
This is Eric’s favorite room (those are all my Mom’s DVDs…):
He likes the ceilings (which you can’t really see in this photo
).
The kitchen and dining room are adorable with the little nook for the table:
Adam’s bedroom is big – this is the first half:
(he’s got an awesome view). This is the second half:
The ‘rents bedroom is insanely huge – I thought it just looked like that before because it was empty, but no, it’s just really, really big – even with a King size bed and dressers etc in it!
Eric and I have our own bathroom when we stay:
Plus the house has all of these cute little built-in nooks and crannies and old cottage-style things:
Then of course, there’s the pool:
Which Dad, Adam and Eric hung out in – Mom thought it was too cold and I was still too burned to be out in the light like that
.
Adam and Dad started out thinking it was too cold:
Adam decided jumping in at once was the best way to go – this is his “ooohhhh it’s cold face!” lol
But, they both finally made it in – closely followed by Eric…
While Mom and I napped on the side:
I also brought my parents a Chuck-It for Magnum:
He really enjoyed it!
The outside of the house is as beautiful and picturesque as the inside:
So, there it is!!!
I love it!
Dad said that this was the best Father’s Day he’s had too!
Believe it or not, Eric took even more photos and they are HERE.
No commentsFirst Fry of the Season
At the event today, I got really burned. Scorched in fact, the first time my poor winter-white body has seen the sun for any length of time and I didn’t even protect it
I was wearing a halter top and the strings were hanging down the middle of my back…
I can tell by the look and feel that it’s going to peel too
For now though, Eric’s helping me keeping it slathered in aloe…
No commentsKya’s Teeth
While at the UAD event this weekend, I was really messing around with Kya, handling her all over to make her more comfortable. Well, then I started to look at her teeth…
Here is Midas, he is just over three years old:
Mason, who is a year and 4 months old:
…and Miss Kya, who is supposed to be only one year and one month old:
She even has some broken teeth
After consulting all three of my message boards I’ve come to the conclusion that we still don’t know how old she is lol. Some say that with an awful diet, no toys and no way to rub the tartar off that it is completely possible to have that much buildup in a dog so young. Others say that there is no way, that she is at least 2, perhaps even 3 years old. Still others say that it’s based on genetics and that teeth are a less than perfect way to gauge age. So, we still don’t know.
No commentsItalian Charm Bracelet
I’ve never had a charm bracelet, always thought they were a little flashy for me, a simple soul when it comes to jewelry. But, someone got a custom bracelet done on the Lab Forum I frequent and I couldn’t resist. It took a long time to order, figure out the charms I wanted, photos I wanted to use, what background colors, the fonts etc etc. But, it was so incredibly worth it when I got it!!!
Here it is:
The individual charms:
I LOVE it!!!!

I feel a lot more prepared for Labfest this weekend now! I have no doubt that someone will hurt themselves, whether it be one of the boys…or Eric.
The Gang’s Classes
The boys finished out Rally class and I came to some decisions regarding that, the story is here.
Midas started another Agility class, yay!
The story of the first class is here.
Kya started her very first obedience class!! That story is here.
No commentsKya’s Life Jacket
The first time we took Kya swimming, she sunk…twice. Following that performance, I decided to get her a dog life jacket for at least Labfest so that she could build some confidence and some swimming skills. She was less than impressed:
Mom, I can not move with this thing on me!!! Nope, not even for treats!
I will not touch the hand that forced me into this thing!
She would only walk if I led her around my the handle lol
How can you laugh at me at a time like this?
