Falon’s World

Well, this is usually one of my very favorite holidays. With my birthday, beautiful beach days and fireworks – what’s not to like. Unfortunately, this year my birthday was mediocre, the weather was mildly chilly and rainy and I had to work, therefore missing the fireworks.

Before all of that though, we went to Rebecca’s place for some hot dogs, burger, fruit and rice krispie treats. Gus has grown so much!

She calls him her crocodile – he’s growing so incredibly fast though!

Afterwords, I went home to nap for awhile before going to work. I met everyone downtown before work to hang out for a bit and then headed in. Eric got some pretty cool fireworks photos though:

We left late after I woke up for the day and Eric showed me my surprise, we headed out for Dylan’s 2nd Birthday Party. We got there for the tail-end of the food and to watch him open his presents – I think he had a pretty good time!

After the party, we went to Rebecca’s house to deliver her present and see how much Gus had grown. He’s soooo leggy now! He’s extremely energetic and has a bit of a biting problem – and his puppy teeth are crazy sharp…

After six years of school, and a particularly difficult, grueling and miserable last year, my parents agreed to throw a party. Partly for me, but partly just to get friends together to have a good time and some drinks. We had volleyball/badminton set up and some GR friends came too. It was a good time.

My poor parents had so many problems getting the party ready to go but we all had a good time – thanks Mom and Dad!!!!

This morning, Eric dropped me off bright and early downtown to meet Rebecca on our way in to take our final test – the ASCP Board of Registry exam to get our MT and then we’d be done with school forever!!! I was so nervous, we both felt a little sick going in and the in-depth process of photo-taking and fingerprinting to even take the exam was mildly stressful. But…seeing the PASS was the greatest thing ever!!! Now I’m just waiting for my scores in the mail

Immediately after we were done, we picked up Colleen and headed up north to Traverse City to pick up Rebecca’s new puppy. Names that were being considered were: Murphy, Baccheaus and Bertier.

When we were almost there, Rebecca called to say that we were close only to find out that her puppy hadn’t been picked up and readied from the owner’s house…so we stopped for lunch and ice cream and then went back to pick him up.

The drive home was very thought-inducing for Rebecca as she struggled to name her new pup – the final name is Gus!

I taught Mason to carry a bucket for a SAR Demo – It’s the cutest trick!

We had our first Bonfire at our house afterwards, it was pretty fun – if really buggy. In the midst of that, I found out that our puppy had been born!!!!

Balen had 10, 5 boys and 5 girls. I am so excited!

Some of our name picks so far are: Keno, Kaos, Capone and Wixom.

After a lot of discussion and research, Eric and I have decided to add a fourth dog to the mix, a Dutch Shepherd. When we adopted Kya, we had hoped for another agility dog, one that perhaps wasn’t as moody as Midas. Unfortunately, that is not to be. I have other hopes for this pup as well…but we’ll hold out on mentioning those until he’s older

They are so athletic and I’ve talked at length with the breeder and feel really good about getting a pup that will fit into our home perfectly – the landlord is also agreeable to adding one last dog

This afternoon I drove up North to pick up the last two puppies: chocolate male and black female so that they could be picked up and go on to their new homes this evening. Of course we had a little carsickness on the way home but that’s the usual. I bathed them and then played with them for about an hour and a half. They fell asleep in a heap on my lap right before the families came. I had staggered them but between one thing and another they ended up showing up at the same time, which actually worked out perfectly.

The choco male is now known as Henry and is very happy in his new home, which includes 3 young girls:

The black female was added to a family that already had one of her sisters, the yellow female with the pink collar, gone at 8 weeks, now known as Sofie. The little black female’s name is yet to be decided.

When I came North to get my haircut I also picked up the two chocolate labradoodle males. It was an interesting trip home. After they both had baths, had gone to the bathroom and had run around a bit I kenneled them up together with a couple toys for the evening. Today I had a couple come and look at them. They chose the curly male with the blue collar and named him Hershey.

After he left, his brother who was left behind was not very happy. He barked…a lot. So, we drove back North (after Eric got home) in near-blizzard conditions to drop the lonely little guy off. While there, Grandma decided she is also going to sell the black female she was keeping for herself.

I’ve heard from most of the other people that have bought litter-mates and they are all pleased! I’ll post photos later

Still have a couple of the puppies left. They are getting quite big and their hair is getting more wiry as time goes by. Here are a couple of photos of them (I forgot my camera, so these are Eric’s photos, which the rest can be viewed here).
