Trip to the Beach

May 25th, 2009 | Category: Eric, Sunset, The Boys

Since we’ve moved to Allendale, Eric likes to drive out the to the lake whenever we can. We took Mason today and he did ok, turns out he’s beyond terrified of skateboarders though lol.

A beautiful time! :)

Eric the Photographer

January 05th, 2009 | Category: Eric, Sunset, The Boys

I’ve been with Eric for two years now…and you would think I would be used to the kinds of photos that he takes. But, he continues to surprise me. As much as I myself enjoy photography, I do not in any way enjoy the freezing cold Michigan weather coming off the Lake and whipping around the pier – or getting wet while not enjoying that weather. Eric, on the other hand, completely disregards the insane weather and traipses all over the place, risking limb if not life for “that photo”. These are some of my faves from recent adventures (I at least ride along if I don’t participate lol):

At the Grand River, I think these are pretty cool:

His first attempt at HDR (one of the neatest concepts ever I think):

These are neat, although I was not along for these “city” shots:

We went out to Grand Haven pier and Midas was the only side kick actually out in the weather:

He was cooperative about jumping the fence, but refused to get onto the pier because of the ice:

These are some of my faves from this trip:

Pretty amazing huh?

If you want to see more, THIS is his Flickr site. I’m attempting to get everything into sets so that photos are easily found but…it’s a work in progress.

Kya’s 2nd Trip to the Beach

July 26th, 2008 | Category: Eric, Kya, Sunset

Kya’s first trip to the beach was quite awhile ago. Since the boys continue to be trained in Agility and SAR, and Kya’s class has ended, leaving less one-on-one time with her – we decided to take only her to the beach with us. We had high hopes of seeing a great sunset, since our North Carolina trip was postponed. It was rather disappointing (perhaps a foretelling of what the trip would be like??) but we still had a good time. I got to take some photos with a “real” camera this time as well…they’re not that good.

Eric was very absorbed in his Crocs for quite awhile:

We’ve been working on Kya’s recall, which is fantastic, if I do say so myself :) . There was a couple playing with their golden retriever about 50 yards away, with a Chuck-It (one of Kya’s favorite toys) and she badly wanted to go over and play too but I had no difficulty calling her off.

She also makes the funniest faces when she comes to me specifically – she’s always very excited to see me, very excited. I tried to capture that face but since I don’t know what I’m doing (Eric said the lighting and the speed with which she was moving was also not helping), I didn’t get what I was aiming for…

This is the face I desperately want to capture, because I think it’s hilarious, but alas, only a blurry photo for an example :( .

Maybe when I’m better with this camera…

Random Midas and Sunset Photos

October 23rd, 2007 | Category: Sunset, The Boys

Midas’s favorite spot in the house is laying looking out the sliding glass door. But lately, I’ve been spending more and more time in the bedroom working on homework and stuff, so he’s substituted for the window ledge, which he’s just barely tall enough to reach:

Mason’s now tall enough to rest his chin on the windowsill too, it’s a little more awkward looking than even Midas. I remember when he used to have to jump up and down to look out the window…they grow up so fast :) lol.

If Mason is aggravating Midas to the point of irritation and I’m on the bed, Midas will beg to be let up there (this was more effective before Mason could jump up on the bed too), if I’m at my desk, he likes to squeeze underneath, where there is barely enough room for him, my chair and my legs:

Tonight while Eric was outside mowing the lawn (finally), the sky was really fiery, these are photos from our house looking across the street:

I thought it was pretty fantastic anyway…

Mason’s Obedience and Holland Beach Sunset

October 09th, 2007 | Category: Randomness, Sunset, The Boys

Yesterday was Mason’s first obedience class. He did really well. He’s so funny and enthusiastic, you can’t help but smile. Anyway, here’s the details on that.

Tonight we left right after work to go to Holland. Eric got his oil changed, we stopped at his mom’s to drop off the pasties from the UP Trip, then we headed out to the beach for some sunset photos. It was cold, incredibly windy and Eric was frolicking around in shorts and t-shirt. What was I wearing? Jeans and a hoodie…with the hood up.

Here’s Crazy Eric in his Peter Pan Pose:

There were also two surfers out there – craziness:

My camera can’t zoom in as far as Eric’s can and so his photos are cooler of the surfers. :( Oh well, at least I got some action-y ones…

The sunset was pretty spectacular but my photos were just…eh. Here are my faves:

Nothing too spectacular about this one except I like the moon…which you can barely see.
